How To See How Many TikToks You’ve Watched: Shaping Your For You Feed

Is your For You feed showing you a mix of videos that are consistent with your interests and videos you’re not interested in? Reviewing your video history will help you understand how TikTok recommends content for your For You feed. 

Take note that as soon as a video passes through your feed and plays automatically, this counts as a view. And each view counts toward your content preferences. This means videos you’re not interested in also factor into your recommendations without you realizing it. So it’s just as important to let TikTok know when you’re not interested in a video. 

Keep reading to learn how to access your watch history and delete certain videos from it. 

TikTok Watch History

Your TikTok watch history shows you all the videos you watched in the last 180 days while using the same account. Your watch history does not include LIVE videos and Stories. Here’s how to see how many TikTok videos you’ve watched:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the three-line icon in the top right corner. 
  2. Select Settings and privacy
  3. Under Content & Display, tap Activity center. 
  4. Tap Watch history

How To Delete Videos From Your Watch History

Deleting videos from your watch history is one way to help TikTok refine its video recommendations. Keep the following things in mind before deleting videos from your watch history:

  • Deleting videos from your watch history is permanent. 
  • TikTok will temporarily keep deleted watch history data to prevent the same videos from appearing in your feed. 
  • Downloading your data excludes videos you deleted from your watch history.
  • You will no longer appear in the deleted video’s post view history.  
  • You may continue to see videos similar to those you deleted for a short time after the deletion. However, deleted videos will no longer be considered in future recommendations. 

Here’s how to delete videos from your watch history:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the three-line icon in the top right corner. 
  2. Select Settings and privacy
  3. Under Content & Display, tap Activity center
  4. Tap Watch history.
  5. Long-press on the video you want to delete, and tap Delete. If you’re using an iPhone and not in grid view, swipe left on the video and tap Delete
  6. To delete multiple videos, tap Select in the top right corner. Select all the videos you want to delete, then tap Delete

How To Download Your Watch History

When you know how to see how many videos you’ve watched on TikTok, you can select what you genuinely like. TikTok’s Download TikTok Data feature allows you to request a copy of your data. You can download specific data so you’ll have a backup copy of your favorite videos or if you want to export it to other services. 

TikTok data you can download include:

  • Account info and settings.
  • Posts on TikTok.
  • TikTok activity, such as likes, comments, favorites, and watch history.
  • Direct messages.

To download your watch history, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the three-line icon in the top right. 
  2. Select Settings and privacy
  3. Tap Account
  4. Tap Download your data
  5. Tap Select data to download, then tap Custom
  6. Select Activity, then tap Done
  7. Tap Request data

How To Get a Fresh For You Feed

Do you know that you can completely reset your For You feed? You can delete your entire TikTok history and get a fresh start. Take note that this option does not affect your Following feed, profile, and inbox. TikTok lets you to Refresh your For You feed with these these steps:

  1. Go to your Profile and tap the three-line icon in the top right corner. 
  2. Select Settings and privacy
  3. Under Content & Display, tap Content preferences
  4. Tap Refresh your For You feed
  5. Tap Continue, then tap Refresh

Refreshing your For You feed is like experiencing it again for the first time. As before, you can help TikTok give you a personalized experience by doing the following:

  • Watching videos you enjoy from start to finish.
  • Following accounts that post content you like.
  • Engaging with videos you want to see more of.
  • Tapping Not interested on videos you don’t like.
