Want More Real Tiktok Followers?

A TikTok sponsorship is the dream of most creators. Landing a brand collaboration says you’ve made it as a content creator. And if you play your cards right, your first sponsored post can open more partnership opportunities.

Find out how sponsorship works on TikTok and how to level up your game to seal a sponsorship deal.

How To Get Sponsored on TikTok: Everything You Need To Know

A paid sponsorship on TikTok works the same way as on other social media platforms. TikTok allows users to promote a brand, product, or service through their content. These sponsored posts could be for the user’s own business or a third party.

In exchange for the sponsored posts, the creators typically receive payment or other forms of incentives, such as free products/services.

How does sponsorship on TikTok work? How can you get sponsorships on the platform? Keep reading to learn more.

What Are the Requirements for Sponsored Posts?

TikTok requires creators who share posts that promote a brand, product, or service to:

  • Adhere to TikTok’s Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Branded Content Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Enable the content disclosure setting for the post and select the proper content disclosure label.

Turning on the content disclosure setting does not adversely impact the post’s reach. Your optimization strategy and the quality of your content play a bigger role in how effectively you reach suitable viewers and convert them into followers.

However, if you don’t display the proper disclosure, TikTok may restrict or remove your video.

TikTok’s Content Disclosure Requirement for Sponsored Posts

Transparency is TikTok’s number one requirement when posting sponsored content. All sponsored posts must indicate they’re such through the content disclosure setting

Enabling this setting “helps build and maintain trust between TikTok users and advertisers,” as well as between sponsored creators and their viewers.

The content disclosure setting simply discloses that a post is commercial in nature. When enabling this setting, you also have to specify whether the post is promoting your brand/product/service or that of a third party.

If you’re promoting your own brand/product/service, your post will have the Promotional content label. The post will have the Paid partnership label if you’re promoting somebody else’s brand/product/service.

You can turn on the content disclosure setting before or after you post your content or when you go LIVE:

  1. You’ll find the content disclosure setting before you post on the Post screen>Content disclosure and ads if you’re part of TikTok Creator Marketplace. If you’re not part of Creator Marketplace, you’ll find the setting on the Post screen>More options>Content disclosure and ads.
  2. If you’re using a computer to upload your video, click Upload and select the video file. On the Upload video page, turn on the setting to Disclose video content
  3. To enable the setting after you post a video, go to the video then tap More options>Ad settings. Turn on the setting for Disclose video content
  4. To enable the setting before you go LIVE, tap the Settings button on the LIVE screen. Tap Content disclosure and ads

Take note that after selecting the proper label (Promotional content or Paid partnership) for your sponsored post, it cannot be changed.

If you make a mistake, you must delete the video, post a new one, and select the correct label.

Tips To Get Tik Tok Sponsorships

How do you get their attention if you’re a creator looking for potential sponsors? How do you show them you have the reach, influence, and capability to deliver results? Here are some quick tips for how to get sponsored on TikTok:

  1. Have a well-developed targeting strategy. Potential sponsors have to see that you’re able to reach genuinely interested audiences with organic content. You should know how to optimize your posts to reach your target audience with the help of TikTok’s recommendation algorithm.
  2. Build and maintain a high engagement rate. A decent follower count always helps, but brands value high engagement rates more. Focus on your content niche to build a solid presence and get consistent engagement. Make sure you post at the right times, i.e., when your followers are most active. Promptly reply to likes and comments to keep your comments section busy. Share compelling posts to generate conversations around them.
  3. Learn from successful social media influencers in your niche/industry. Study their most popular posts. Read their viewers’ comments to find out what captures their interest. Analyze their content style and identify their strongest attributes as creators.

TikTok Sponsorship Rates

How much can you earn from sponsored posts on TikTok? TikTok sponsorship rates vary depending on your expertise, niche, industry, follower size, engagement rate, and other key metrics.

Influencer marketing rates are usually confidential and determined through negotiations between the collaborating creator and the brand.

Here are the average rates for different kinds of influencers on TikTok according to a Shopify survey:

  • Nano-influencers (1K to 10K followers): $5 to $25 per post
  • Micro-influencers (10K to 100K followers): $25 to $125 per post
  • Mid-tier influencers (100K to 500K followers): $125 to $1,200 per post
  • Macro-influencers (500K to 1M followers): $1,200 to $2,500 per post
  • Mega-influencers (1M followers and more): $2,500 per post or higher
